Outreach and engagement credits
Outreach and Engagement scholarship is research, teaching, clinical practice, and service that involves significant collaboration with community partners to meet the needs of families.
Outreach research responds to concerns of stakeholders by working in partnership with them to generate research that addresses co-identified needs or brings evidenced-based research to bear on issues identified as critical to the communities they serve.
Outreach teaching and training uses research-based, pedagogically-sound curricula that responds to the educational needs of families or community professionals and may be delivered in various formats: face-to-face, online, etc.
Outreach clinical practice involves collaboration with community-based agencies in therapeutic interventions with individuals and families.
Outreach service may be characterized as outreach and engagement scholarship if there is long-term engagement with stakeholders to positively influence policy for families. This may involve conducting background research, speaking to stakeholder and community groups, testifying at the legislature, drafting legislation, etc.
