Financial support

Department of Family Social Science assistantships, fellowships, scholarships, and awards are available to students enrolled in the department's Master's and PhD degree programs, as well as in the MEd program in family education. 


This section outlines work hours and expectations, how tuition remission works, policies that govern graduate assistant (GA) appointments at the University of Minnesota, registration requirements and health insurance as well as who qualifies for tuition reciprocity. 

Graduate fellowships, awards based on academic merit, are available to new and currently enrolled graduate students at the University of Minnesota. In addition the department also awards fellowships. 

The University, College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) and department have several funds available to support student travel to conferences to present their research and advance their scholarship.
