Conflict Resolution processes and resources
The Family Social Science faculty make efforts to ensure the learning and working environment for students and faculty is safe and civil. However, disagreements or conflict may arise between students or between students and their faculty advisors, instructors, or employers. The FSoS program encourages open and honest dialogue between involved parties. If suitable resolution cannot be made through this method the Director of Graduate Studies and/or the Department Head can be involved in mediating conflict (as appropriate).
The University Policy, Conflict Resolution for Faculty, P&A, Civil Service, and Student Workers, is designed to help resolve conflicts in the workplace. The University also has specific conflict resolution offices: the Office of Conflict Resolution, and the Student Conflict Resolution Center that can assist with negotiating the formal grievance process.
